Also, as well as and other and phrases

Are you guilty of using ‘also’ with other ‘as well as’ words and phrases?

In the following sentence, we don’t need ‘in addition’ and ‘also’.

In addition, financial institutions should also consider having teams that provide support at regional levels.

Either say:

In addition, financial institutions should consider having teams that provide support at regional levels.

Or:

Financial institutions should also consider having teams that provide support at regional levels.

In the next sentence, we don’t need ‘also’ and ‘and’.

He hosted a television chat show from 1993 to 1998, and he also wrote several books on his experiences.

Either say:

He hosted a television chat show from 1993 to 1998, and he wrote several books on his experiences.

Or:

He hosted a television chat show from 1993 to 1998; he also wrote several books on his experiences.

(Note the neat use of the semicolon!)
